650-Hour Massage Therapy Certification Program

What This Program Is
The Lighthouse Healing Arts School certification program is a 650-hour massage therapy training designed for adult learners who are ready to enter the profession thoughtfully and sustainably. It is not a one-size-fits-all program. It is built around personalized mentorship, clinical reasoning, and a trauma-informed approach to both learning and practice.
The program moves through four phases — two completed entirely online and two completed in person. This structure gives you the flexibility to build your foundation on your own schedule while still receiving the hands-on mentorship that massage therapy requires. The program is designed to be completed in approximately twelve months alongside your current work and family commitments.
Upon completion you will be eligible to sit for the MBLEx — the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination administered by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards — and to apply for licensure in your state.
The Four Phases
Phase 1 — Online Foundation
Phase 1 is completed entirely online through our learning platform Ruzuku, giving you the flexibility to study from anywhere at a pace that fits your life. This phase covers the theoretical and professional foundation of massage therapy — including massage theory and principles, anatomy and physiology, professional practices, ethics and boundaries, and the therapeutic relationship. Phase 1 also includes our Somatic Awareness Series, a unique component of the Lighthouse curriculum that develops your understanding of the nervous system — your own and your future clients'.
Phase 3 — Online Advancement
Phase 3 returns to online learning and builds on your Phase 2 experience. This phase covers client assessment and documentation, adapting sessions for special populations and common pathologies, regional anatomy, and career development. The Somatic Awareness Series continues in Phase 3, now focused on bridging your personal nervous system work into clinical practice with clients.
Phase 2 — In-Person Application
Phase 2 brings students together for hands-on intensive training. This is where the foundation built in Phase 1 comes to life. You will learn and practice foundational massage skills, application methods, and full session work under direct instructor supervision. In-person sessions are scheduled in coordination with enrolled students. For students outside the Laramie, Wyoming area, we are willing to travel — reach out to discuss what works for you.
Phase 4 — In-Person Integration
Phase 4 is the capstone of the program. Students return for in-person intensive training focused on integrating all skills into a fluid, professional one-hour session. This phase includes student clinic sessions with real clients, supervised by your instructor. Upon completion of Phase 4 you will have the hours, the skills, and the clinical confidence to enter the profession.
Who This Program Is For
This program is designed for adult learners who are serious about entering massage therapy as a meaningful, sustainable career. You do not need prior healthcare experience, though many of our students come from backgrounds in healthcare, fitness, or wellness. You do need a high school diploma or GED, a genuine commitment to the work, and the willingness to engage with both the clinical and personal dimensions of this training.

Tuition and Financing
The total cost of the 650-hour program is $8,000, payable across the four phases or in full at a discounted rate of $7,500.
Phase tuition is structured as follows:
- Phase 1 - $3,000
- Phase 2 - $1,500
- Phase 3 - $2,000
- Phase 4 - $1,500

Frequently Asked Questions
What does the hybrid format look like day to day?
Phases 1 and 3 are completed online through Ruzuku, our learning platform. You can access lessons, readings, and assignments from any device at any time. Most students find that dedicating two to three hours per day, five days per week is a manageable pace. Phases 2 and 4 are in-person intensives scheduled in coordination with enrolled students.
Do I need any prior experience to enroll?
No prior massage or healthcare experience is required. You do need a high school diploma or GED. What matters most is your commitment to learning and your willingness to engage fully with the program.
What is the MBLEx and when can I take it?
The MBLEx — Massage and Bodywork Licensing Examination — is the national licensing exam for massage therapists, administered by the Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB). Upon completing the required program hours you will be eligible to sit for the exam. Our curriculum is built to prepare you thoroughly for the MBLEx alongside your practical training.
Where do the in-person phases take place?
We are based in Laramie, Wyoming, and willing to travel for in-person phases. Location is determined in coordination with enrolled students. If you are outside the Laramie area, reach out and we will discuss what is possible.
